CERVICAL CANCER

Cervical cancer develops in the cervix, the lower part of the uterus, and is most often caused by persistent infection with certain types of human papillomavirus (HPV). Early stages may have no noticeable symptoms, making regular cervical screening and HPV vaccination important for prevention and early detection. Symptoms may include unusual vaginal bleeding, pelvic pain, or pain during sexual activity.

Early detection can save lives. With proper screening, medical care, and treatment, many cases can be prevented or successfully treated.
