ASTHMA: WARNING SIGNS
Asthma symptoms can change from mild to severe, sometimes quickly. Early warning signs may include persistent coughing, wheezing, chest tightness, shortness of breath, trouble sleeping because of coughing or breathing, and reduced ability to perform normal activities. Needing a rescue inhaler more frequently than prescribed can also signal worsening asthma.
Severe symptoms-such as struggling to breathe, difficulty speaking, bluish or gray lips, confusion, extreme exhaustion, or little improvement after using prescribed rescue medication-can be an emergency.
Recognizing these signs early and following your asthma action plan can help prevent a serious attack.
