LANGUAGE OF PAIN

Pain is more than a physical sensation-it can affect your emotions, sleep, energy, movement, and ability to manage everyday activities. The "language of pain" describes the different ways people experience and communicate pain, including words such as burning, stabbing, aching, throbbing, pressure, cramping, numbness, or tingling.

Because pain can be difficult to see from the outside, explaining where it hurts, what it feels like, how severe it is, and what makes it better or worse can help healthcare professionals better understand your experience. Everyone experiences pain differently, and being heard, believed, and supported matters.
