Lymphoedema is a long-term condition that causes swelling, usually in the arms or legs, due to a buildup of lymph fluid when the lymphatic system is damaged or blocked. It can develop after cancer treatment, surgery, infection, or injury. Common symptoms include persistent swelling, heaviness, tightness, reduced flexibility, and an increased risk of skin infections. While there is no cure, early treatment with compression garments, exercise, proper skin care, and lymphatic drainage therapy can help manage symptoms, reduce swelling, and improve quality of life.
